It is true. And perhaps it is for the same reason that I find it easier to find ideas and write stories to publish on the blog than to create a more complex work to sell through self-publishing. A question of price When you choose to be part of a market – and self-publishing is a publishing market – you have to change your attitude towards yourself and your business. And in this case your business is writing. Even though I work every day to improve it , there is always something that blocks me, which sometimes makes me give up and want to give up and continue writing short stories for the blog without any goal to achieve.
I had decided to continue the long PU story (this won't be the title, but for now I have no ideas about it), then at a certain point I decided that, by not continuing, it was better to change Phone Number Data story. And here I reopen the file of Rottami , the steampunk story set in a glacial Northern Europe. But that story needs reflection, to first be well defined in the plot. So I return to PU, then return to the scrapyard and finally, like a prodigal son with unclear ideas, I end up on PU again A question of quality It's not enough to write, in my opinion.
Because when you decide to sell, when you put your signature on a commercial product, when you then also get to advertise it, you are putting yourself on the line and seriously too. It's not enough to write, but what you write must be a valid story, something that no one has read before. Because with that story, after all, you're gambling on your name, aren't you? I have downloaded previews of paid ebooks several times, fiction I mean, and I was impressed. Yes, but negatively. There was no style, there was no originality, in some cases there was not even grammar. What is the meaning of all this? If you start making mistakes even before the story, you kill any chance of success. You will scare the reader away from the preview, even before purchasing.
